Shower Ritual: Self Care & Mental Health

INTRODUCTION

Hello again folks, I'm back and here to talk about a ritual that could change the game for those who struggle with mental health and Self Care. Now, a lot of people have no problem with hopping into the shower or drawing a nice herbal bath ritual of their own, but this here, this is for all my baddies struggling with mental health and invisible illnesses, who struggle with getting in that shower and can't seem to find the energy to do Self Care, this one is for you!

YOU SET THE SCENE

We are going to do some things to set the tone, it doesn't have to be a bathroom makeover, but with just a few changes, the shower could be your safe space to relax and release all that negative energy. The first thing I recommend is investing in actual eucalyptus to hang above your shower head. It's not that expensive, and the smell in a hot shower can aid in relaxing. The second thing is a candle of choice. You're going to light the candle and keep the light off. Make sure you have clean towels, a pair of slippers, and a robe. We want to be as comfortable as possible. Lastly, I'm recommending a Bluetooth speaker. We are going to stream relaxing, ambient music.

COMPLETING THE RITUAL

Start the music, light the candle, and set out your towels, robe, and slippers. We get into the shower, and we are going to rinse down. As you wet your hair, focus on washing away what you have been unable to let go. As you shampoo and condition your hair, imagine fortifying and strengthening your bonds, could be relationships, your contacts and networking, or even what qualities you bring to the table. As you soap off your body, close your eyes and concentrate on how you're feeling physically. We want to be rid of what is causing us pain, physical or mental. Body scanning slows us down and forces us to recognize where we are holding stress and pressure. As you get out of the shower, dry off and wrap up your hair, and put your slippers on.

SUMMARY

I know this ritual may sound like a lot of steps, but I promise on the days you need it the most, you'll feel incredibly better. Comment below if you've tried this, or to share your thoughts and feedback.
